Welcome to KLAARA 2027
Travel and start of the conference
KLAARA 2027 takes place in Hildesheim.
We recommend: come to Hildesheim on 27 May 2027.
On this day, there is already time for talks.
You can meet other participants.
You can talk together about Easy Language an joint projects.
The conference starts on 28 May 2027.
The place is the Bühler Campus of the University of Hildesheim.
First day
28 May 2027 is the first conference day.
All participants are together in one big room.
You can also join online.
There will be interpreting into German Easy Language.
There will also be interpreting into German Sign Language (DGS).
On this day there will be:
- the official opening of the conference
- welcome addresses
- two keynote talks (big plenary talks)
- information about the programme
The leaders of the sections present their topics on this day.
They explain briefly what their sections and workshops are about.
We award the KLAARA Prize for the best PhD thesis on Easy Language.
Second and third day
On 29 and 30 May 2027, we work in smaller groups.
The groups are called sections and workshops.
In these groups, participants discuss specific topics on Easy Language.
Most groups meet on site in Hildesheim.
Two groups meet online.
This way, many people can take part in different ways.

Topics of sections and workshops
At KLAARA 2027 there are many sections and workshops.
The topics are Easy Language and accessible communication.
The topics come from different academic fields.
The aims are:
- to present new research on Easy Language
- to show practice projects
- to make room for exchange between research and practice
Experts from different countries lead the sections and workshops.
There is time for discussions and questions.
There are presentations on new research and theories.

- Specialist communication in Easy Language
– for example in law and public administration - Health communication in Easy Language
- Research methods for Easy Language and accessible communication

- Easy Language in audiovisual media and audiovisual translation
- Literature in Easy Language
- New developments in research on Easy Language
Workshops
There are also workshops.
The workshops are more practical.
They show methods, tools and examples from practice.
